What are protruding teeth?
Protruding teeth is a condition where the upper teeth sit too far ahead of the lower teeth. This problem may be due to crowding, thumbsucking, a small lower jaw, missing lower teeth or a bad bite.

This problem should be corrected because it can:

  • Make your smile less attractive
  • Make teeth function poorly (poor chewing)
  • Allow trauma to occur to protruding teeth

How is the problem corrected?
Space to align teeth may be made by either expanding the arches or by removing teeth. Braces are then implemented to move upper teeth into their best position.
