Getting Started

Orthodontic treatment is not something that you can rush. There is no need as the treatment takes several months to complete. We put together a customised treatment plan that will be followed to achieve the results you want.

Pre-Treatment
You need to have all the necessary x-rays taken to be forwarded to Dr. Tony Weir. During your initial consultation, Dr. Tony Weir will provide you with all the necessary referral forms that you need to get the x-rays for your teeth.

Once you get your x-rays, the staff here at Tony Weir Orthodontics will call you and let you know the outcome and schedule you for your next appointment.

Your First Appointment
For your first appointment, we will take photographs as well as models of your teeth, which become our Starting Records. Then, we will give you a copy of these photos to keep and refer back to in order for you to see how far your treatment has come. This will usually take 15 to 30 minutes and is often done by Dr. Tony Weir himself.

For Braces
Usually during your first appointment, we will place separators or spacers between some of your back teeth. These are small elastic rings that will enable us to fit a metal band comfortably around your back teeth.

For Invisalign / Clearsmile
If you choose to get Invisalign or Clearsmile, we will also take photographs and preliminary models just like getting braces. We will base on these photographs and models as a starting point in determining your treatment plan.

Your Next Appointment
For your next appointment, we will take a second and more precise mould of your teeth, which will be sent away to the manufacturer of the appliance to be constructed. This appointment is usually scheduled 2 to 3 weeks after the initial appointment where the records are taken.
