Braces

Braces

If you are looking for aligned teeth then consider braces. Braces are still the most popular form of orthodontic treatment available. Children, teenagers and adults all over Australia have used braces as way of correcting their misaligned teeth.

What are Braces?
Braces are a combination of brackets and wires attached to the front of your teeth. The brackets grip the teeth and the wires are loosened or tightened to move the teeth to the desired position.

The wires that we use are unique for each orthodontic case. We make sure that the shape will be ideal to your case in order to get the results you want. The wires are connected to the individual brackets attached on front of the teeth. When the wires try to return to its original shape, it will also move the teeth in place.

As an option, instead of the metal brackets used on conventional braces, we use tooth coloured brackets which are virtually invisible and very difficult to detect.

How Braces Work
Braces work by applying controlled force on the teeth. Over time, the forces will move the teeth to the desired position. The length of the treatment will depend on how far the teeth need to be moved. Some treatments can take a few months while there are other cases that need years of treatment. Other factors that can affect the length of treatment are the age and overall health of the patient. The older you are, the denser your jaw bone which means that it will take longer for your teeth to move to the desired position.

Who Can Benefit From Braces
Both children and adults alike can benefit from the treatment. For children, it is recommended to start treatment when they have all their permanent teeth. Usually, by the age of 7 or 8, children can start wearing braces. Although more time is needed for adults to get the final results, you will see that the final result of the treatment will be just as effective. Keep in mind that you are never too old to get braces.
